Today we reflect on the beginning of our 2014 wedding season at the Killington Grand Resort in Killington, Vermont with Jarred and Shannon in this classic New England Winter wedding. Both the newlyweds (who are avid snowboarders) chose the perfect location to share their personalized wedding vows in front of their family and friends.
Prior to the ceremony, Assad (Jarred’s best man and college roommate from Berklee College of Music) and Courtney (Shannon’s maid of honor and sister), along with the bride and groom boarded a gondola and photographed formal portraits at the top of Killington Mountain at K1 Lodge. Not a cloud in the sky was to be seen. Not a gust of wind to be felt. It truly was a beautiful day and the snow covered mountain provided the perfect background for photos.
The weather that day was very typical for New England weather at a ski resort. However, the story of the journey on how Jarred and Shannon met is anything but typical. Jarred was born and raised out in Oregon and then attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. Shannon was raised in the suburbs of Boston and attended school in Miami. They only met because Shannon was home and they both attended a party at a mutual friend’s house. They stayed up all night talking and decided to go chase the sunrise and have breakfast together. In a city of 300,000, this meeting was a 1 in 150,000 chance.
Shannon looked lovely in her white sequined dress with her royal blue high heeled shoes. She carried a simple bouquet of white roses accented with red winter berries. Jarred was dressed in a gray suit with a blue tie, with a matching boutonniere to Shannon’s flowers. The ceremony had every concept of a classic, New England Winter wedding: tiny white Christmas lights, decorative silvery tree branches, white votive candles and a stone hearth with a crackling fire in the fireplace. The ceremony was officiated by Courtney’s boyfriend, Paul.
After the ceremony, friends and family all gathered downstairs at Ovations for hors d'oeuvres. Soon afterwards, the guests bundled up their jackets and headed outside to board a large sleigh for a ride up to the Ledgewood Yurt to finish their night with fine cuisine.
Enjoy the photos.
